Fuel for Growth: Building Healthy Eating Habits in Early Childhood

Why Nutrition Matters in Early Childhood

A balanced diet is crucial for children’s physical growth, brain development, and emotional wellbeing. The Australian Dietary Guidelines emphasise the importance of providing young children with a variety of nutritious foods to support optimal development. At Golden Seeds, we make healthy eating a fun and essential part of the learning experience. From having children learn to prepare meals and help with the cooking process through to providing a diverse menu for the children everyday at Golden Seeds Early Learning we understand the importance of good nutrition. Our menu’s are prepared fresh and feature a variety of dishes that incorporate several different vegetables and proteins to ensure they develop an appreciation for a variety of foods.

Nutritious, Balanced Meals Every Day

Our menus are carefully crafted to include a variety of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins. Every meal is designed to provide the right fuel for growing bodies and active minds. Our menu also features dishes from several different cultures so children can learn and appreciate different foods.

Exploring Food Through Hands-On Activities

We bring nutrition education to life with gardening and cooking activities. Children love planting seeds, watering plants, and tasting fresh produce they’ve grown themselves! Giving children an appreciation of how food is created helps to encourage a healthy appetite and appreciate a variety of different foods.

Encouraging Healthy Choices

We make healthy food exciting by offering colourful, creative meals and teaching children about the benefits of different foods. Our educators create positive mealtime experiences that encourage children to try new things. Many parents find it tricky to introduce new foods to their children however when children are in a group they are much more likely to try new foods which can ultimately make meal times easier for parents.

Partnering with Families

Healthy habits start at home. We share tips and recipes with families to support nutritious eating beyond our centre. You are always more than welcome to request any recipes that your children may love so you can prepare them at home!

At Golden Seeds, we’re committed to nurturing healthy bodies and curious minds. Through nutritious meals and engaging food education, we help children build lifelong healthy habits.
